NEWSLETTER

Hi All !

What an eventful past two months we have experienced.

I do hope you are all keeping well and managing to keep in touch with family and friends.

Please be assured that your Tennis Club friends are here to assist with anything you may require, whether that be a chat, shopping and even a hit up.

Court Availability

Courts are now ready for play.

For members wishing to play, please bear in mind that play on the grass courts is not permitted on Mondays, Thursday before 1:00pm or any time of day when dew or rain poses a risk to the court surfaces.

Please limit your playing time to less than two hours.

Saturday play will commence between 2pm and 4pm. Numbers will be limited to 32 players with sets lasting for 25 mins, with a 5 minute break in-between.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Clubhouse will be closed, except for access to toilet facilities.

Members entering the Clubhouse will be responsible for their own hygiene, however sanitizing materials will be available on the verandah and we encourage all Members to use sensible sanitising procedures at gate handles, padlocks, door handles etc. for cleaning each time they are used.

Members should bring their own refreshments as afternoon tea will not be provided.

Socialising or congregating on the verandah or courts after play finishes is not permitted.

Club Championships

It is envisaged that as soon as the Club can be re-opened and we are permitted to have organised play, the Club Championships will be ON!

Be prepared by getting your partner organised and head down to the Club for some practice.

Hire of Courts

Both the hard courts and synthetic courts are available for hire by booking via Andre 0478 524 382.

Coaching

Andre is running coaching programmes and can now conduct sessions with up to four persons. He can be contacted on 0478 524 382 to accommodate all your needs to enable you to be good to go for the Club Championships as soon as the Club can be re-opened.

AGM

The Club’s accounts will be finalised as at 30th April. If the Club is not permitted to be opened in June, the AGM will be postponed. As usual, we will keep you updated with progress in this regard.

Summer League

Congratulations to all who participated in the Summer League competition, especially to the combined Claremont/Floreat Park Girls 14 & Under Div 7, who went through the competition undefeated and to Imogen Hubbard who was awarded MVP.

Social Media

What more information on Club activities?

Keep up to date with what is happening at the via the Club’s Facebook page and the Club’s web page.

Projects

While we move through these very different times, your committee is working on various projects that are planned for the Club.

Primarily is the upgrade of the synthetic courts and possible additional shade cover on the grass courts. Funding applications are being prepared and will be submitted in due course.

With six months to go until the first day of the Perth Royal Show, a decision has not been made as to whether the show will go ahead as planned in September 2020.  Without show parking, the Club’s excess revenue will be limited.  Is anyone interested in making a chocolate wheel  -  the Saturday raffle could be back !!

Maintenance

Greg O’Dea is continuing to work on the courts to ensure they will be in good condition when play commences.

John F and Bill O and the boys are working around the Club to keep up our Club looking spit spot. Feel free to contact either of these gents if you would like to assist with any maintenance.

Comfort Food

I am finding myself doing a lot more cooking since spending a little more time at home.

As a means to keep us all connected, I would like to suggest that if anyone has a favourite winter comfort recipe, and would like to share it, I would to initiate a “weekly recipe” as a means of keeping us connected. I would envisage recipe would be published on the Club’s webpage (with photo) if possible.  If you choose to cook the published recipe, take a photo and send it through (so we can see how it compares). If you are agreeable your photo and name will be published the following week.

Stay healthy and remember to continue to keep your distance.
